Thomas Farnesworth
This is the last will and testament of me, Thomas Farnesworth Senior of Hathersage in the County of Derby, Yeoman. Made this twenty seventh day of August in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and ninety six, in the manner following. That is to say, first, I will and direct that all my just debts and funeral expenses be fully paid and discharged by my executrix, hereinafter named. And, whereas I have now in the hands of Richard Swallow Esq. the sum of two hundred and seventy pounds, from whom I have his security for the same. And likewise, I have in the hands of my son in law Mr William Brooks one hundred pounds but no security, he having paid me interest for the same. I give and bequeath unto my dear wife, Martha Farnesworth, all the said interests and profits arising from the said sums, during her natural life, together with the full possession of all the said house and premises with the appurtenances of what kind soever, with all the household goods and furniture of whatever kind, during her natural life. I give and bequeath unto my son Thomas Farnesworth, the house and appurtenances thereto belonging, to enter of the same, soon as possible after my wife's decease. And to his son, Thomas Farnesworth, to enter after his decease. I give to my son George Farnesworth, the sum of fifty pounds. I give unto my son Charles Farnesworth, the sum of fifty pounds. I give unto my daughter Elizabeth Wainwright, the sum of fifty pounds. I give unto my daughter Anne Brooks, the sum of fifty pounds out of the said sum of one hundred pounds, which is now in the hands of my son in law Mr William Brooks. All the rest residue and remainder of my personal estate, goods, chattels and effects of what kind or nature soever, I give and bequeath unto my dear wife, to dispose of according as she shall judge best, and I do hereby appoint and nominate my said dear wife Martha Farnesworth, sole executor of this my last will and testament, hereby revoking all former and other will and wills by me made heretofore. In witness whereof I, the said Thomas Farnesworth, the testator, have here unto set my hand and seal, the day and year first above written.

Signed, sealed, published and declared by the said Thomas Farnesworth, the testator, as and for his last will and testament (the words sole executrix) being first underlined , in the presence of us who, at his request, and in the presence of each other, have here unto put our names as witness.
