WILL of JOHN REYNOLDS of MANSFIELD WOODHOUSE,
Nottinghamshire Year 1673 (13th yr of Charles II )
In the name and by the blessing and the goodness of God, amen, I John
Reynolds of Mansfield Woodhouse in the County of Nottingham Gent being in perfect
memory and health blessed be the Lord therefore, hereby revoking and adnulling
all other Wills and testaments by me made and ordained do constitute ordain make
and declare this my last Will and testament in manner and form following That
is to say first and principally, I do resigne and beqeath myselfe by life,
and my soul at my death totally unto God faithfully trusting by the death and
passion of my Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ against all my sins past and to come
to be eternally saved, And my body I commit to the Earth (whereof it came
until the resurrection, when, I assuredly hope it shall bee again unitted to my
Soule in heaven and there shall rest forever with the Lord). And as concerning
the disposition of all my temporall means and estate my funerall expenses and
burieds charges thereof being first paid and defraid I do trust and bequeath
as followeth,That is to say ffirst unto Cornelious my son in mony five pounds
to be paid unto him uppon his demand after my death; and also I give unto him
our
dwelling house certaine outhouses two Garden places and a croft situatelying
and being in a certaine street in Mansfield comonly called Westgate late Henry
Daws his of Mansfield aforesaid Joyner in full discharge of this child part
and portion. Item I give to William Trippit my son in Law in full
discharge of Mary deceased daughter and his late wife her childs portion the
sume of Twenty Shillings in present mony, Item unto Elizabeth Reynolds late
wife unto my son Richard deceased Twenty Shillings in present mony in full
discharge of his childs part and portion; Item I give unto Michael Keys
my son in Law the sume of Five Pounds in present money in full discharge of my
daughter Alice his now wife or childs part and portion, Item I give unto
Abigail Turner my daughter all the household goods shee hath which I bought
of Master John Newton after the death of her husband which cost me Twelve
Pounds in full discharge of her childs part and portion Item I give unto
Elizabeth Champion sometime wife unto my son John deceased Twenty Shillings
in full discharge of that my son his childs part and portion Item I give unto
John Morley Twenty Shillings in full payment and discharge of my deceased
daughter Elizabeth his late wife for childs part and portion; Item unto John
Reynolds son to my late deceased son Richard I give and bequeath my title and terme
of years in that house in East Retford neahring his mother now lives as also
my foresaid right and tenant right in that farme at Tibshall which I hould of
the right Honorable William Earle of Devonshire. Item Julyan my now wife I give
and bequeath my reversion of time in my Hospitall Lease at Tibshall and alsoe
all the rest of my temporall estate of monies Plate debts bonds Rents
Arreararayes of rents forfeitures Reversions Titles Rights Legagcies household goods
and other goods and chattells xxxx forever and do make and appoint her sole
Executrix of this my last Will and Testament always hoping that before shee
shall
marry to any other man my decease or at the time of her death shee will
distribute amongst my best deserveing and children and grandchildren ( except shee
shall have a child or children by mee ) all the estate or meanes shee shall
reap or get by mee by marriage or other ways, according to
the faith or trust betweene us from first to last And I do hereby constitute
and ordaine my two trustee friends Joshuah Silvester and Richard Wilde of
Westgate in Mansfield supravizors of this my last Will and Testament In
Witness whereof I have thereunto put my hand and Seale this fourth day of May
in the Thirteenth Yeare of the Reign of Sovereign Lord Charles the second by
the grace of God King of England Scotland Ffrance and Ireland and defender of
the faith Anno dni Signed Sealed published and declared the last Will and
Testament of the within named John Reynolds in the presence of Jo Porter Brian
Bowlby Dorothy Lineker
